Today Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said it had stepped up efforts to maintain stability in the supply and distribution of petroleum products nationwide, allaying fears of any fuel scarcity.<br><br>This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager of the corporation in Lagos.<br><br>The NNPC said it had enough stock of petrol to service the country for 25 days at a national consumption rate of 40 million litres per day.<br>

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Osun State, Mr. Jacob Adekomi,  today said that Governor Rauf Aregbesola has approved the payment of December, 2014 salary for workers in the state.<br>Adekomi, who said this at a press conference he addressed after a meeting with the government delegation led by Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, added that the governor also approved the payment of the 30 per cent balance<br>of November salaries of some workers who were yet to be paid in full.<br>The NLC boss, however, said workers would not suspend their strike despite the payment of their one month salary out of seven months.<br>

Double tragedy occurred last Saturday at a burial ceremony in Ivhiokhile quarters in Fugar, the administrative headquarters of Etsako Central local government area of Edo State, when a trigger-happy policeman went on rampage, shot and killed two nursing mothers.<br><br>
Two-month-old baby strapped to the back of his mother however escaped death by whiskers as the police bullet narrowly missed him before hitting his mother on the neck. She was later rushed to Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua, where she died Sunday morning.<br><br>The woman identified as Sandra Imhaku, was said to have lost her husband last year while expecting the baby.<br>

FG today has appointed Mordecai Danteni Ladan, to oversee the activities of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the statement was posted on the website of the DPR.<br><br>According to the statement, Ladan is to take over from the former DPR Director, Mr George Osahon, whose tenure elapsed on June 19.<br><br>It said that a memorandum dated June 19, stated that the appointment was with immediate effect.<br><br>Ladan, according to the statement, is a Petrochemist by profession, who joined DPR in Nov. 23, 1987 as a Senior Analytical Chemist.<br>
