Fire razes building in Lagos

A three-storey building on Monday was razed by fire at the Idumota area of Lagos Island, destroying property worth millions of naira.

It was said the fire, which raged for about 10 hours, started from the third floor of the building and later spread to other floors.

Both the Lagos State Fire Service and National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the development, saying five fire trucks were on ground to battle the inferno.

As of 6pm, firefighters were still battling to put out the fire.

Director, Lagos State Fire Service Razaq Fadipe, said the security measures put in place by residents prevented the firefighters from gaining easy access into the building.
