At
the start of each year, majority of Nigerians come up with long and sometimes
ambiguous lists of things they plan to improve on in various aspects of their
lives. The resolutions cover a wide range of activities from health
consciousness to financial prudence.
However, according to a Forbes publication
in January 2013, only 8% of people achieve their New Year resolutions. In the
same report, up to 40% of people make New Year resolutions which show there is
a will by a sizeable number of people but majority of them will fail in their
bids.
A good number of people have stopped making resolutions all together
since they almost always fail at it. This mindset and global culture was the
opportunity MTN saw and developed a platform for enabling these dreams, achieving
them and tracking them very efficiently for improvements through the year with
the effective use of data. This platfom will make perennial New Year resolution
‘drop-outs’ dust up their old resolutions and effectively use technology as a
means to their desired end.
The
platform, after careful development became a Mobile Application called ‘My 2015
App’. The app is positioned as a tool to achieving and tracking set targets
through the year. Beyond the App however, the internet is an ocean of limitless
opportunities and possibilities which can be accessed through the provision of
data services. We need to let our subscribers see these opportunities in every
facet of their lives and use these applications in their everyday living to
make their lives easier and give them the cutting edge advantage at all times.
We also need to make them begin to see MTN as an international ICT company
committed to the aspirations of Nigerians irrespective of their gender or
legitimate means of endeavor.
